Product: MarketPulse — automated seller market reports for real-estate agents
The Situation
A seller market report — comparable sales, showing activity, market temperature — is how a listing agent proves a price to a seller. Assembling one means pulling data from the MLS, showing platforms, and listing photos, then formatting it into something a client can actually read. It’s hours of work per listing, and it goes stale the week after it’s delivered.
The Problem Behind the Problem
The obvious answer — “make it a web app” — doesn’t work here, and knowing why is the whole job. The data lives behind the agent’s own logins, on platforms that restrict access to authorized users and locations. A cloud service can’t log in on the agent’s behalf, and an agent should never hand their MLS credentials to someone else’s server anyway. The tool has to live where the agent’s access lives: on their own computer.
What We Built
A desktop app. It runs on the agent’s machine, works through the agent’s own authorized access, gathers the listing and showing data, runs AI analysis on listing photos, and assembles the seller report automatically. Licensing and billing run through Stripe subscriptions; updates ship to the installed app automatically.
The architecture follows the constraint instead of fighting it: the heavy lifting happens on the desktop where the access is, and only the lightweight pieces — the landing page, the license check — live in the cloud.
The Result
Reports that took hours now assemble themselves. MarketPulse is live at marketpulse.commandmodule.com.
This is what “custom” actually means: when the off-the-shelf answer can’t reach the data, you build the thing that can — even when that means a desktop app in a web-app world.
